Gas Transport Unit

The Gas Transport unit oversees physical gas transport. The unit is divided into four departments.

The Application Management department is responsible for the functional control of the computer systems which operate the physical gas transport and for the efficient usability of these systems. It judges all adjustments and submits proposals to improve the applications in the daily gas transport.

The Dispatching Centre, which is located under the head office of Gasunie in Groningen, is for the day-to-day operational management of the gas transport process. The dispatchers ensure that the system is balanced and monitor gas quality and pressure. They coordinate activities which could influence gas transport and, in the event of an accident, are responsible for its safety.

The Planning Gas Transport department is responsible for an adequate planning of the gas transport and for the provision of operational knowledge concerning new developments. The department also makes preparations for new construction and maintenance projects in the main transport network and indicates when the work can be done. The department is also responsible for the development and extension of the process models used for the administrative settlement of the gas transport.

The Measuring & Allocation department is responsible for the delivery of accountable measurement data and oversees measurement policy for accountable purposes (volume, energy and gas quality measurements) and the realization of the established policy in this field. The department secures the quality of the measurement process and formulates the functional requirements that apply to the accountable measurement process (such as accuracy, reliability and timeliness). It also secures the accuracy and actuality of the measurements and allocations. The department organises the execution of the measurement process and takes the lead in the interpretation of the results and the allocation process. The staff determines the data and makes these available to all interested internal and third parties.
