Connect parties / end users

Over 1,100 companies and organisations are directly connected to the national gas transport network of GTS. They are called connected parties or end users. These can be large industrial enterprises, power plants or producers and network companies in the Netherlands and in other countries. Most of these customers buy the gas they need from a gas supply company or from a gas producer. A shipper (who can also be the gas supply company or the gas producer) transports the gas for them.

It is possible for connected parties to only contract exit capacity without entry capacity, to make sure they can receive enough gas for operating their business. They will usually transfer this exit capacity to the shipper who is to supply them with natural gas. But they can also opt to transport gas through the GTS transport network themselves. Such companies are in that case not just connected parties but are also shippers since they have booked entry and exit capacity.
