Good first month of the new balancing regime

3 May 2011

As of 1 April the new balancing regime and market model has come into force. For all parties involved this new regime has brought changes. After the first month we noticed that both Shippers and GTS have fulfilled their role well and that the system is working adequately. The Bid Price Ladder was called a few times and the system balance was restored again.

We would like to draw your attention to the following two topics.

We would like to advise all Shippers to use Business-to-Business "B2B" for the Online information supply. The infrastructure of B2B is available 24/7. Several parties seem to rely on Gasport solely. As the infrastructure of Gasport is not available on 24/7 basis we advise you to be able to communicate with B2B, at least as back-up for Gasport.

Once more we would also like to draw your attention to the creditworthiness rules.
In the new balancing regime the imbalance exposure is based upon the financial position of the POS, Bid Price Ladder transactions and settlement invoices after the due date. As also explained on the shipper meeting 16 March. You can read the presentation here.
You can find your exposure position in Gasport (header Financial). More information regarding the "protocol for enforcing creditworthiness" can be found on our website. In accordance with the protocol a Shipper will be informed when its total exposure exceeds 85% of the credit limit. When the total exposure exceeds 100% of the credit limit we will ask the Shipper to take immediate action and supply supplementary financial security to GTS.
