A converging SBS

10 Feb 2011

Starting on 1 October 2010 we have published the System Balance Signal (SBS), damping parameters and buffer zone values. The currently published SBS is not always representative for the SBS that can be expected as of the 1st of April 2011. The current SBS may differ because of several reasons: market parties will act on the incentives of the current market model, market parties do not yet apply damping, not all volumes are part of the calculated SBS and Joint Test Phase testing activities may require resets of the SBS.

Lately, as more volumes are added to the SBS calculation and especially when market parties, as part of the Joint Test Phase, actively send in damped programmes, we see that the SBS is converging on values that better reflect the SBS as it will also be as of the 1st of April 2011. However, it cannot be ruled out that large deviations might still occur in the period up to the 1st of April, because of the aforementioned reasons. The published zones and parameters are representative, except during dedicated testing periods (the implementation managers are and will be informed about these deviations).
